Prop List

Whilst planning to film we had to think of props to use when filming the actual media task. As are movie was quite a simple running scene morphed in with finding a body whilst on the run. The only prop we really found necessary to have was a basket ball when finding the boys body as he was lying in the base ball court. We also needed to organise what clothing the actors had to wear. We found Harvey, the runner, should wear tracksuits and a running jacket as the weather represented in the camera looked cold. We found it necessary that he also wears a hat as it made the shot on the camera better in my personal opinion. We thought that Joseph, the child who was found on the run, should wear a hoody and tracksuit bottoms as he was playing basketball previous to whatever made him unconscious on the floor. We decided to give Harvey (the runner) a water bottle. This made the fact he was a runner clear to the camera which gave the audience a clear appearance. 

      Equipment: 
  • DSLR filming camera - we chose this camera because it could film in a high quality (1080p) as opposed to some of the hand held cameras that we had used previously in our work. 
  • Tripod- We used the tripod for almost every shot to ensure the stability of the camera. This was essential as it helped us create smoother pans. The tripod also included a spirit level so we could keep the angle of the camera completely flat as we filmed.
  • Camera Batteries - As we were filming for large majorities of time we needed to take spare camera batteries in the situation of the camera batteries running out. This happened due to the cold weather so the spare batteries came in to use. 
  • Shoulder Mount - When filming we wanted to have as steady of a shot as possible to improve the quality of the film. A shoulder mount has three of the adjustable arms that wrap over and around your shoulder. You can attach the camera onto the top which keeps the sturdy look. It massively improves the look of the shot and stops the jittering look if you weren't to use it.

PRELIMINARY TASK

Based on your first draft what did you learn during your preliminary task that you want to avoid /implement/develop upon in your actual coursework? Avoid -  Things that I learnt from the preliminary task that I want to avoid is background noise, to make sure the camera has a good balance and is stable and have a variety of camera shots and angles. Background noise in the preliminary task was very awkward because of people talking in the background therefore in the coursework I would like to avoid this by making the location we chose quite and preventing any background noise so the weather would have to be appropriate to do this. Camera balance is something I have tried to improve since the preliminary task to do this I have used a variety of equipment to keep it balanced as I found the camera shaked a lot, therefore when it comes to filming I want to avoid this to get the best product I can.
